your probably thinking its some kind of forbidden romance with a highschool girl and a adult?
Relife, Fastest Streamed Show & For a Reason!
A quick synopsis for readers who haven't watched this anime yet....The story follows Kaizaki Arata, a 27-year-old jobless man, who fails at every job interview he had after quitting his last company. His life changes after he met Yoake Ryou of the ReLife Research Institute, who offered him a drug that can change his appearance to 17-years-old and to become a subject in an experiment for one year. Thus, he begins his life as a high school student once more.
Let me first say how much it surprised me that CR was streaming it all in one day on July 1st.. QUITE, I thought that perhaps it was just an experiment to see how well an anime does. It seems Japan has a even bigger thirst for revenue than I imagined. Technically this entire anime streamed on the 24th with Comicoコミコ app on Android. From the looks of their main site, Comico seems to be a Manga/Anime streaming app and of-course their Star is Relife! The Studio that produced this lovely anime is TMS Entertainment. They produced the shows you might be watching or watched, known as Detective Conan, Kamisama Hajimemashita, & D. Gray Man. They seem to be more focused on OVA and Movies than producing regular broadcasting anime so perhaps this is the reason ReLife was broadcasted strangely. Will we see more anime broadcasted all at once? Perhaps not all the Shounen Manga adaptations, but who knows what might be the next subject to this experiment.
the task for me awaits....
Anyways Time for the Real Review!
Overall - 9/10
ReLife's story is quite a remarkable one. Not only does it grab you with the premise that a pill can bring out your appearance of a highschooler, but also to enjoy them once again! Better yet! Those jobless folks get to take that pill. The story already appealed to me when it related to that strange feeling I get when I want to return to my highschool days mostly because I fucked up on them badly. For this short run anime, I have to say its plot was sort of rushed, but I have no clue whether it was poorly adapted nor if its supposedly going to have a sequel. Overall it felt rushed though, the way it ended could actually quite leave some folks feel unattended to this quite emotional rollercoaster. Regardless the hook it provided for the viewer made for quite a catch on those like myself who are so easily susceptible to their bait sometimes when it comes to Romance.
goddam i love acchi kocchi
Character - 9/10
ReLife's introduction to each character and their individual problems that intermix with each other, make you feel quite sad or pity for them. They definitely did good for the characters, you may even feel a similarity with one or the other which makes you cheer them on even more. The only con when I watched the anime is that I never thought people would be so goddam thickheaded with relationships. It seem liked they tried to make a great start contrast from adults to teenagers and that is hindsight. Either Japan has a really fucked up highschool or I must be dreaming.
me between each episode lol |
Plot - 7/10
The story did its work to get you what you wanted, when you wanted. I mean tbh, it felt sort of like the run of the mill 12 episode short plot, and perhaps you will be able to see what I mean when you watch it. They did quite good on being able to get every aspect of the story. Nothing really left behind that people wouldnt be satisfied... well except for one goddamn thing! Now I try to run spoiler free but I cant believe they made the MC have to go through that! No justice! Many can say "oh but atleast it wrapped it up" well fuck me, regardless of the conclusion I can't believe they would just let off things like that! Perhaps maybe, the Manga goes further than this but shit I hope to god so that they do something about it!
lmao i found their parody already(jk) |
Conclusion
ReLife left me on the hinges without any tears nor regrets. Rather I looked at it in a more 'positive' light! The manga! Now the people who were half-half on this show might just appreciate how the anime was and forget about being a dipshit later and maybe realize its fraction of a moment it spent in the light. Or those like me who feel 3/4 full and wont fricken wait for the last quarter and will just immediately jump into their manga to read on what they missed out or to look for a more happy ending which for some reason must be fulfilled for me on Romances otherwise I cant leave it off like it is! I recommend this anime for those with the Iron heart, perhaps the wine of ReLife will rejuvinate your feels once more.
I hope I did a good job reviewing! I try to be interesting, I am going to make a poll and let it stand for a month or two about how well I did. Please give me your anwsers, and I will be adding a disqus to the blog soon.
Till then bye! And here are some photos of relife.
